The roots of the Missouri Photo Workshop are embedded firmly in eight decades of rich tradition; current workshops carry principles present from the beginning. When the late Clifton C. Edom of the Missouri School of Journalism founded the Missouri Photo Workshop with his wife Vi in 1949, he too, looked to the past to map the path for photojournalism’s future. A few years earlier, in 1944, the Edoms also founded “First Annual Fifty-Print Exhibition” which became Pictures of the Year, and now Pictures of the Year International(POYi). POY Asia, a program of POYi, is guided by the same basic principle — “Show truth with a camera”. We believe it is critical for people to see the news and issues that are shaping Asia through the eyes of those who live here every single day. principle.
